Thanks Melvin and Janice. This part of Belgium and France will never escape its past, although it is inspiring to see so many people determined to ensure that the memory of those who died here lives on.

This is a poignant and important story. I too have traveled this area. I spent November 11th, 2001 at the memorial at Vimy Ridge. We took our sons to the town of Courcelette (little more than a crossroads). Their school is named after this town because many of the boys in the area fell in this battle. We are coming up to Remembrance Day -- Lest We Forget.

A couple of years ago, we've traveled from a trip in Spain back to Germany & visited a cemetery of the WWI in Northern France. We've arrived early in the morning and no one else was there. This atmosphere at dawn and seeing all these graves... I will never forget it & hope will never experience such history myself!
