Thanks Jim. Feel free to share your list. I fear a few of these are probably out of date now in any case.

Interesting list, Andy. I'm heading to New York at the end of the June for a two month stay, so I will have plenty of time to check out some of these locations for myself. I'll compile my own list at the end of my trip.

As a native born and bred 'Manhattanite', pulleez ad this Chinese UWS fav to your list: The Cottage, 77th St. at the NW corner of Amsterdam Ave. Only Chinese restaurant that can boast an Italian interior, including their restrooms! Great prices plus free all you can drink California wine with meals. Even though I moved to New Jersey, I still head up town to my old stomping ground for Chinese cuisine! Peter, the owner, is kind, well-mannered, and has over 25 customers like myself who've been loyal to his establishment since the early 80's!!!!!!

my faves were: Sweet'n'Tart on Mott St in Chinatown (there's also another branch in Flushing) - good Cantonese food, and Kum Gang San on west 32nd St for Korean food.

Great roundup! I would also add Do Sirak (Korean food in Union Square), Kasadela (East Village Japanese tapas - no sushi though), Cha An (great, quiet teahouse with perfect black sesame creme brulee) and Bar Hagi (fantastic izakaya bar in midtown). Yes, I do have an affinity for Asian food :) All the above are reasonably priced and delicious!
